Images uploaded for your profile picture need to be equal to or bigger than 180 x 180 pixels, but Facebook shrinks them to 160 x 160 pixels.It is worth noting some points to clarify a couple of issues I stumbled upon while researching this: Distance from the top of the profile picture to the top of the cover photo – 173 pixels.Distance from the top of the profile picture to the bottom of the cover photo – 142 pixels.Distance between right of cover photo and the profile picture border – 666 pixels.Distance between left of cover photo and the profile picture border – 15 pixels.PROFILE – The dimensions for your own personal profile: Distance from the top of the profile picture to the top of the cover photo – 211 pixels.Distance from the top of the profile picture to the bottom of the cover photo – 104 pixels.Distance between right of cover photo and the profile picture border – 658 pixels.Distance between left of cover photo and the profile picture border – 23 pixels.
PAGE – The dimensions for your Facebook business, service, fan etc page: So, this is where I thought I would take the time to mock up some dimension guides for anyone out there in need of them, for both Facebook Profiles AND Facebook Pages. I had gone and used the wrong dimensions, as I hadn’t even realised that there were two sets, I had just assumed that the dimensions would be universal for all facebook pages. What made it even worse is that I made a custom ‘cover’ and ‘profile’ combo the other day which took a bit of time, only to find it didn’t sit right on my personal profile (even though it sat fine on my fan page).
This is partly because Facebook keep on changing the bloody sizes by sometimes literally a pixel at a time. It IS difficult to keep track of exactly what the dimensions are for the Facebook timeline line-up. This post tells you exactly what the dimensions in pixels are for your Facebook cover photo (in relation to your profile picture) for both your own personal profile and your brand or service page.
